I feel so lucky to have taken photos of this lovely couple, Kaitlyn & Joe, on their wedding day, in Grand Lake, Colorado. I love Grand Lake, so when this couple asked me to photograph their wedding there I was so excited. It was a small and intimate wedding, the bride and groom of course, and just the bride's parents and a couple other family members attended. I love small, low key weddings like this, and Grand Lake was so fitting for this couple and family, Grand Lake has the perfect small town country feel that I just love. The town of grand lake sits right on the natural lake of Grand Lake, it's one of my favorite lakes in the world, it is just gorgeous. Even in the winter, it is beautiful! This was actually my first winter wedding in Colorado, actually first winter wedding ever! I lived most of my life in Hawaii where I've photographed most of my weddings, however since I've been in Colorado for over a year now, I have photographed some weddings in some beautiful locations, this is the 2nd wedding I've photographed in Grand Lake.
The couple wanted a first look, so we did the first look where they were staying at (a little cabin at the Western Riviera Lodge) right in the town of Grand Lake, at the grand lake itself. Then they had a lovely ceremony at Point Park in Grand Lake, where they just said their personal vows to each other, it was so sweet and intimate, with just their family there. They didn't have an officiant, because you don't need an officiant in Colorado to get married! So it was just me, the photographer, and the couple and their family. Point Park is located on the west side of Grand Lake, so we got some lovely photos of everyone right on the lake in Point Park. We then headed back to the town area Grand Lake, and finished off with some photos with the christmas trees right there on the main street in Grand Lake. It was a beautiful sunny day, and there was luckily snow on the ground, so it made for a perfect wintery wedding for the couple! One of my favorite weddings I have photographed so far in Colorado.
